| Afghanistan Women Council Our aim / mission is to secure the civil and social rights of women in accordance with Islamic principles and in line with the culture and traditions of Afghanistan. American Intelligence Project American Intelligence Project (AIP) amplifies the voices of world-class security, military, diplomatic and media professionals who believe in the rule of law, an informed public, and a U.S. foreign policy based on cooperation. AIP produces sound analysis aimed at avoiding war - except as a last resort - without compromising national security. American Revival Project - SEE Innovation The American Revival Project is a public-awareness and capacity building effort that seeks to advance the progressive social justice, economic equality, and environmental stewardship. Americans for Safe Access The largest national grassroots coalition working to protect the rights of patients and doctors to legally use marijuana for medical purposes. Our mission is to ensure safe, legal access to marijuana for all who are helped by it. We provide legal training for lawyers and patients, medical information for doctors and patients, media support for court cases, activist training to grassroots organizers, and rapid response to law enforcement encounters. Arca de Noe Based in Costa Rica, where there is no official animal control system in place, Arca de Noe's mission is to reduce the numbers of unwanted animals in the community through rescue, castration and adoption. Ballona Valley Preservation League Through the utilization of video and electronic media, this group is halting construction on the Ballona Wetlands. The videotaping of endangered species is an essential component in preserving this crown jewel of Los Angeles, which developers have coveted for decades. Beaches Local Food Network The goal of BLFN is to address the long-term goal of local food security in our beaches community through connecting farmers to consumers, building community gardens, and creating educational programs for children and adults. The Bicycle Tree Our goal is to create a space where people can fix bicycles for free and explore pleasurable alternatives to car culture. Biodiesel Council of California The Biodiesel Council of California's mission is to inspire social, economical and ecological sustainable development of the biodiesel industry in California by educating and organizing the public. Brazil Strategy Network We are a network of individuals who want to support the progressive measures of the Brazilian government and the social movements working for economic and social justice in Brazil. CREER We believe it is our responsibility to create an international bridge that is focused on education, sustainable contribution and balance integration of cultures. We facilitate this work by sharing abundance with the native population of Costa Rica in the form of building libraries and supporting local entrepreneurs. Caring Relationships Involving Book Sharing (CRIBS) The mission of CRIBS is to get the message out to parents that they should "Start Reading Now!" by presenting and engaging children in literacy activities that will help them to be successful in school and to become lifelong readers. C.I.C.L.E. Cyclists Inciting Change through Live Exchange is a group that seeks to promote the bicycle as a viable and sustainable choice for everyday transportation. Coalition for World Peace Our Coalition is dedicated to working for a world free of violence and war. We work for communities that respect all people equally, as justice is applied without prejudice and with compassion. Our work promotes the resolution of conflict without violence and war. Community, Arts, Recreation and Education Coalition C.A.R.E C.A.R.E. works with communities, with an emphasis on youth involvement, to provide facilities and opportunities for the arts, recreation, education and enlightened, sustainable development. Conservatree Conservatree's mission is to shift the pulp and paper industry to environmentally sustainable production processes through environmental paper market development & providing tools, strategies, education and technical assistance to paper purchasers and environmental paper advocates. Creative Outdoor Recreational Edventures C.O.R.E. CORE leaders integrate life skills, physical challenges, environmental awareness and classroom curriculum into experiential learning "Edventure" that students will carry with them throughout their lives. Desiree Alliance The Desiree Alliance is a coalition whose focus is on building local and regional leadership and constructive activism in the sex worker population to advocate for sex workers' human, labor and civil rights. Eastern Bay Guardian The mission of the guardians is to restore, protect and study the watershed and ecosystem of the Eastern Bay and Chesapeake Bay, including tributaries, which have all been extensively damaged by human activities East Yard - Communities for Environmental Justice An environmental health and justice organization promoting a safe and healthy atmosphere for communities that are disproportionately suffering the negative impacts of industrial pollution. We recognize and promote full and authentic community participation in making policies that affect them directly, encouraging the implementation of environmental justice guidelines for local governments, state and federal agencies and industry. Environmental Paper Network EPN is a diverse group of environmental organizations joined together to support socially and environmentally sustainable transformations within the pulp and paper industry. Equal Vision The mission of this project is to provide education about how protection of cows, a foundation of social systems in India, can lead to sustainable living practices by using the cow's milk, dung for fertilizer and fuel, and power to haul grain. Friends of Seal Beach National Wildlife Refuge The Seal Beach NWR is the only wildlife refuge in the Los Angeles Basin. We are committed to community stewardship of the refuge through preservation, restoration, and education. The refuge itself is a 1,000+ acre salt marsh estuary, containing sloughs, ponds, and upland shrub habitat. Gateway Mountain Center The Gateway Mountain Center facilitates spirited, rigorous, and adventurous explorations of the natural world for 4th -12th grade students to prepare and inspire tomorrow's citizens and leaders to envision, create, and support a more sustainable relationship between people and the earth's ecosystems. Green Press Initiative - SEE Innovation To catalyze innovations in policy, lifestyle, and awareness that serve to restore social, environmental, and economic balance. Green Schools Initiative The Green Schools Initiative was founded in 2004 by parent-environmentalists who were shocked by how un-environmental their kids’ schools were and mobilized to improve the environmental health and ecological sustainability of schools in the U.S. Grow Food Organic Volunteers An online resource of working organic farms where people can volunteer, get their hands dirty, and promote the growth of organic farming and permaculture. A response to the rising tide of social and environmental problems and all suffering caused by unsustainable human existence. Habitat Works of Southern California Habitat Works is an environmental stewardship action group producing volunteer projects to improve the habitats of endangered, threatened and perturbed species in Southern California. Independent Media Center A grassroots organization committed to using media production and distribution as a tool for promoting social and economic justice in Los Angeles County. It is our goal to give voice to those people under-represented in the mainstream media. We intend to illuminate and analyze local and global issues that are affected by the increasing corporate domination of American society and the subsequent erosion of democracy. International Accountability Project The IAP works to bring an end to unjust displacement through hard-hitting campaigns, critical research and policy analysis, popular education resources, and creative use of media and arts. Jayo Foundation Our mission is to help educate and heal children through the sport of volleyball by contributing to those organizations that do. Our goal is to utilize the sport of volleyball, via the Jayo Invitational, the first event of its kind where professional and Olympic players will work one-on-one with children from various charitable or educational organizations. Jazmin Flores Breast Cancer Legal Project This project aims to educate, empower and advocate for breast cancer patients, survivors, their families and the general public through free legal services and educational programs. KILL Radio A collective organization committed to using media production and distribution as a tool for promoting social and economic justice. It is our goal to further the self-determination of people under-represented in media production and content and to illuminate and analyze local and global issues that impact ecosystems, communities, and individuals. LA Alliance for Childhood A holistic family support network consisting of parents, child development specialists, parenting educators and alternative health care professionals dedicated to design and implement support systems, educational programs, health programs, and resource / referral services for families with young children. Le Bateau du Audubon The primary mission of Le Bateau du Audubon is to provide a safe, low-impact, fun platform for learning about our estuarine and marsh ecosystems. Secondly, to provide support to US Fish and Wildlife and CA Dept of Fish and Game personnel. Local Access Places The LAP Purpose is to nurture diverse, interwoven sustainable local communities globally by facilitating and modeling the emergence of computer-empowered, creativity inspiring, consensus building community communication centers and networks. The Love Planet Foundation The Love Planet Foundation, established in 2001, is a non-profit organization dedicated to launching exciting new fund raising projects and multi-media events which educate and inspire social & environmental awareness. Memories for Surviving Children Many people who have lost parents when they were very young have unresolved grief and a desire to know who their parents were. MFSK's mission is to support the healing process of those who have lost a loved one, particularly focusing on children left without a parent. Military Association of Athiests and Freethinkers To support nonreligious members of the military by providing community, education and advocacy. Mofilms Mofilms is an independent media organization dedicated to raising awareness concerning topics that are ultimately ignored by current mainstream media. MOMS - Making Our Milk Safe MOMS is a grassroots movement of mothers, working to restore purity to nature's perfect food. Toxic chemicals that surround us have made their way into our bodies and are threatening the purity of mother's milk. This chemical trespass is a violation of every mother's right to provide pure, toxic-free food for her children. Oak Tree Sanctuary A farm where unwanted, neglected & abused animals can find comfort & purpose to their lives by becoming educators of humans, in so preventing further suffering to other animals & where people can learn how to live a sustainable life style. Orang Utan Republik Education Initiative OUREI's goal is to facilitate conservation education regarding the endangered orangutan and its habitat so that it might be saved from extinction. PB&J Campaign The PB&J Campaign is working to combat environmental destruction by reducing the amount of animal products people eat. Poverty Matters Poverty Matters advocates on behalf of low income communities through legislation advocacy and by raising awareness of poverty issues in media and popular culture. Project Bona Fide Created out of a need to support rural Nicaraguan farming communities and culture gain self-empowerment and economic stability. In addition to offering farmers financial and technical support toward gaining organic certification, our focus is on establishing much needed export market opportunities and preserving native environments. River Ridge Educational and Recreational Ranch River Ridge demonstrates for the surrounding community and tourists ways to protect land, water, flora and fauna while modeling economically sustainable alternatives to subdivision of large-scale land holdings. Rubia Founded in response to a critical need to create economic opportunities for Afghan refugee women in Pakistan. Through education, skills training and the promotion of their hand- embroidered textiles, Rubia works to translate the heritage and skills of Afghan women into sustainable livelihoods. Save Open Space Our goal is to preserve the Santa Monica Mountains through the halting of development schemes. Efforts center on Soka University expansion, the Ahmanson Ranch City, Stokes Canyon and other smaller pockets of proposed development. Save Our Ring of Green (SOROG) The mission of SOROG is to protect the designated buffer of land surrounding the City of Thousand Oaks and affecting other bordering cities such as the Santa Rosa Valley, Camarillo, Newbury Park, Malibu, Agoura, Oak Park and Westlake Village from development and human encroachment. Serpent Sanctuary The mission of The Serpent Sanctuary is to provide a place for unwanted reptiles to live out their lives at the sanctuary or with qualified adopters and to help stop the neglect of reptiles through education. Tierra Nativa Tierra Nativa's mission is to enable indigenous communities of Mexico's Sierra Madre to sustain their biocultural resources and traditions. The Transit Coalition This is a broad-based group of concerned citizens whose mission is to conduct education and outreach activities to support the implementation of programs designed to stimulate economic development for and continued operation of improved mass transportation. Tree Walkers International Our mission is to conserve wild neotropical amphibian populations while promoting sustainable and ethical neotropical amphibian husbandry. As a coalition of conservationists, scientists, hobbyists, and breeders, we are an international community dedicated to the preservation and study of these animals. Truman Security Forum Our mission is to create a strong progressive national security constituency, by building bridges between progressives, the military, and national security leaders. U.S. Tour of Duty This project develops effective mass communication techniques and strategies by linking traditional moral values to progressive causes, with an initial emphasis on criticism of U.S. foreign policy and the treatment of U.S. troops, veterans and military families. Wild Women Workshops We offer adventures integrating the tools of yoga and creative writing in wilderness settings. Our courses are designed to foster self-exploration, expression and empowerment within a safe and supportive community. Wilder Institute Conscious permaculture design reweaves the web of fertile and sophisticated landscapes where humans, plants, animals and our collective spirits belong and are welcome. Women with Altitude- Bolivia Our mission is to raise the public's awareness about domestic violence in the US and Bolivia and to raise resources for the many courageous efforts to end abuse. Our goal is to demonstrate that ordinary women can do extraordinary things, whether taking one step up a mountain or one step out the door. Wright Organic Resource Center Our goal is to educate and activate people to be creative and environmentally responsible in all aspects of life. We provide opportunities for people in the Los Angeles area, especially youth, to experience the legacy of Frank Lloyd Wright and Organic Architecture, encouraging the creative integration of Nature, Art and Community. |
